Thrifting is fucking TERRIBLE for small shirts. Sometimes you can make a score, but I have about a 30% success rate whenever I go to thrift stores. Since I work at Urban Outfitters, I get a decent discount that makes my button-ups affordable. Also, Banana Republic has some awesome sales if you go at the right times. I’ve gotten $80 shirts there before at 90% discount just by keeping my eyes open. 

Really all you need is to keep looking, but never settle. Cut and fit are everything.  And don’t be afraid of spending a little more than you might feel comfortable with. 2 or 3 really nice shirts are worth well more than what you might pay for them.
